A Drug-Free Approach to Back Pain Recovery

Chiropractic is based on the approach of enabling your body to naturally heal through spinal adjustments and lifestyle changes that stimulate overall health. For Blake Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, this involves working to restore your body's healthy functioning to avoid the need for drugs or surgical treatments. We find that most of our Harrisburg patients are pleased to find a natural approach for their health conditions.

One advantage of chiropractic care is that it helps people decrease or even eliminate the use of narcotics. Prescriptions are oftentimes supplied to people who have back pain. This is such a significant crisis that the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) issued a report stating that opioid (painkiller) risks outweigh the benefits when administered for back pain.

Some of the most well-known narcotics, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, include hydrocodone (Vicodin), oxycodone (OxyContin and Percocet), morphine, and codeine. Statistics offered by the AAN cite the fact that approximately 50% of the people taking these drugs for a period of three months are still on them five years later. This can further complicate the difficulty of back pain and recovery, especially if an narcotic dependency arises.

Contrast that to chiropractic care which features natural healing and the benefits are obvious. While a pill might be useful at briefly relieving the discomfort of a health problem, it's not a real solution to the problem. Drugs don't fix your damaged spine; it will only cover up the pain.

Blake Chiropractic & Rehabilitation will first examine you to get to the origin of your back problems and then work with you to address the problem -- without risky drugs.

If you're ready for relief of your pain, naturally, give our Harrisburg office a call at (717) 657-2561 to make an appointment with Blake Chiropractic & Rehabilitation.
